Hello-Hello, and happy almost-weekend.
Today we have a spot of Friday Fun related to The Big Game. It involves…haute couture football helmets! This one is by Nicole Miller.

More from Women’s Wear Daily:
Fashion has finally landed on the gridiron, via a freewheeling array of 48 “haute couture” football helmets as part of the New York area’s inevitable Super Bowl frenzy, given its host status for this year’s game. They’re one-of-a-kind helmets styled by members of the Council of Fashion Designers of America in conjunction with the National Football League and Bloomingdale’s…
The helmets are part of a fundraiser for the NFL Foundation. Betsey Johnson went for pink roses.

The Loomstate helmet is kind of cute, I think maybe it’s supposed to be a panda…?

You can see all of the helmets here.
Our other football-related tidbit involves the Budweiser commercial. With apologies to those who have seen this already, I wanted to put a link to it in today’s post.

Budweiser/Anomaly
If you haven’t seen the commercial, I’ll only say there are Budweiser’s classic Clydesdales and a puppy.

In this space we have occasionally (ahem) chatted about Team USA’s uniforms for the Sochi Winter Games beginning next week. In light of the dismay some have expressed (or not) at elements of Team USA’s Ralph Lauren styles I thought it would be fun to share a look that will be worn in the Alpine Skiing competition.

That is Hubertus von Hohenlohe, and that is the uniform he will be wearing as he takes part in his sixth Olympic Games.

NBC Olympics
Adam Tschorn describes the look in his Los Angeles Times story:
…a skintight zip-front number that runs from neck to ankles. The speedsuit is black with a trompe l’oeil design that creates the effect that the athlete is kitted out in a cropped black bolero jacket with white embroidery detail, a white collared shirt, red cummerbund and red necktie, with the letters MEX amid the faux embroidery detail down the left leg.
The overall effect is not unlike that of the faux tuxedo T-shirts that one might find in a SkyMall catalog or Spencer Gifts.
More about the Olympian from NBC:
He is also a 55-year-old German prince.von Hohenlohe is the son of Prince Alfonso von Hohenlohe, a businessman known for his promotion of the Spanish resorts of Marbella and Costa del Sol, and Princess Ira von Fürstenberg, a European socialite, actress and descendant of the Agnelli family, founders of Italian automaker Fiat and owners of the Juventus soccer club.
Good for him.

And finally, there’s this. What better sculpture to make from the snow than a TV dinner?
