Hello-Hello, and Happy Holiday Weekend to all partaking in fun, festivities or just plain relaxing.
This week would best be described as a “best laid plans….” experience, we had all manner of great blog content planned. (Note past tense.) Monday I returned refreshed and rejuvenated from this….
And jumped into Princess work, ready to tackle the toughest assignments. But then this happened…
Because of this:
We still managed a rather brief post on bow ties as we hit mid-week. All was not lost. Despite the Consort’s computer being under the weather.
After four days it is still in the ICU at the iMac hospital. So we’re sharing. (Because sharing is caring.)
Meaning that today’s post is mercifully brief, merely a few more of those things that make me go “hmmmm”. We begin with this:
That would be the “Cuddle Mattress,” described thusly on the company’s Facebook page:
Cuddle Mattress lets you hug your better half intimately without any wrist or arm problems. You’ll sleep better and you can cuddle longer.
The idea for the mattress has been around for some time, but it isn’t yet being manufactured. More from an NPR story about the invention.
Even though the design won a 2007 Red Dot award and was a 2008 Industrial Designers Society of America finalist, production has not yet begun.
Something else that surprised me, this headline in the Times.
From the NY Times story accompanying that headline:
Don’t donate those Jerry Seinfeld jeans to the Salvation Army just yet.
Lighter-blue “washed” denims, often with a looser fit and a higher waist — call them “dad jeans” — may be in fashion again. They have been popping up in street-style blogs like Tommy Ton and the Sartorialist, as well as at fashion-forward retailers like Acne, Supreme, J. Press York Street, Baldwin, Billy Reid and A.P.C.
Wow. That prompted a little Google grazing, I was curious if the same applied to Mom jeans. Sure enough, here is a Fashionista story published just a few months ahead of the Dad jeans article.
From Dhani Mau’s story:
The post-’90s resurgence of high-waisted denim has been going on for a while now. While skinny styles are the easiest to find, a looser fit with a more extreme high waist–aka the mom jean–definitely still has its appeal. However, they’re usually either vintage or just called “high waisted jeans.”
Enter Topshop, who always seems to know exactly what we want when it comes to trendy clothing. And apparently, what we want is mom jeans–literally.
Look at the tag from the jeans, it actually says MOM.
Here are the jeans shown in Dhani’s column.
Our final head-shaking, ‘who knew?’ item, with apologies to those who may have seen it on the PP Facebook page:
Say hello to Colonel Meow. The Colonel has the distinction of being named the world record holder for the feline with the longest hair. All 9 inches of it.
From the LA Times:
Guinness welcomes the competition. “Longest fur on a cat” is a new category for 2014. The new world records book will be out on shelves on Sept. 12. Guinness public relations manager Jamie Panas said cat owners are welcome to register their proposals by way of their website.
Scooter-the-Wonder-Cat heard about the Colonel and just shook her head.
We hope you and your furballs enjoy a wonderful Labor Day weekend!
