Hello-Hello, happy middle of the workweek to everyone!
It’s another holiday season and that means another group of debutantes was presented in Paris at Le Bal des Débutantes.
From the Bal’s website (ahem):
…twenty-five vibrant young girls from famous families and the haute couture and couture houses make each one of them a representative of their fashion, by dressing them for the event….le Bal is the unforgettable moment of their couture and media premières.
There was one notable change this year, the event was not held at the venerated Crillon as it was the previous ten years, that establishment is closed until 2015 for renovations. Among those being presented this year: Kyra Kennedy, the daughter of Robert Kennedy Jr. and great-niece to the late President John F. Kennedy. Miss Kennedy is seen between Zita d’Hauteville and Eva Hansen.
On the left you see Miss Kennedy dancing with her father. On the right, entertainer Larry David and his daughter, Romy.
Lower left Lady Amelia Windsor (the shorter of the two pictured) and Marie de Rohan Chabot. On the right, Aya Tange in the white dress, she is from Tokyo and Carmel, California; Australia’s Francesca Packer Barham is seen in the ruby-red frock.
Zoe Springer is the granddaughter of a German media mogul, Leonora Gilmour is from England.

The escorts.
As noted when writing about this in previous years, this particular event has become very commercialized: there is an official car, jeweler, etc., it seems almost everything is sponsored. Most cotillions and other coming out parties I am familiar with would rather do a face plant instead of a Texas Dip before licensing the level of sponsorships seen at Le Bal. Regardless, it is fun to see the stunning party frocks worn by the debs.
In October the annual Queen Charlotte’s Ball was held in London.

Our other update is evidence that your faithful correspondent has officially crossed over into the Silly Season. The errant move comes much earlier than expected, certainly sooner than usually witnessed at this time of year.
Yep. Things have devolved in the Corner Condo and I have put up a photo of Ron Burgundy. Anchorman. (Or is proper punctuation a comma, as in “Ron Burgundy, Anchorman”?) At any rate, Mr. Burgundy stopped in Bismarck last weekend to co-anchor the news at KXMB-TV. (Or, as we used to say “Read the hits.”) During an interview Mr. Burgundy gave the station he was asked what he thought of KXMB’s weathercaster, Jared Piepenburg:
I haven’t seen weather done like that since 1972, before I went to San Diego and I was in Yuma Arizona, and there was a guy by the name of Jed Fishman, and Piepenburg is a reincarnation of Jed Fishman.”
Now, there is every likelihood possibility the sequel will could be a bomb. But we are going to remain optimistic that it is an even more delightful skewering of the business we enjoyed for so many years before launching the Princess.
Stay classy Preps! (Heh-heh-heh.)
